Page 111 of 365: Tattooing is art

Uncategorized

Hiya!

Since getting my last tattoo (post here), quite a few people have been judging me and saying they think it’s a stupid design and I wanted to indirectly acknowledge it, I guess!

Yes, I have a band logo on my wrist. Yes, it means more to me than just the band. No, when I say ‘it’s personal’, I’m not going to say what it means to me because I explained it in a blog post and it sounds pretentious when I say it out loud.

What I think people need to come to terms with is the fact is that it doesn’t have to mean anything – tattooing is an art form and if someone wants to get a design on their body permanently:

  1. It isn’t your body and really won’t affect you that much, so your opinion is somewhat irrelevant even if you do feel inclined to share it.
  2. It doesn’t have to mean a damn thing – it could just look pretty or badass or make you feel cool!
  3. They’re prepared to go through a pretty high amount of pain to get this design; they’ve probably thought it through once or twice.
Obviously there’s exceptions left right and centre – a lot of people do have a lot of meaning in their tattoos, me included, but they’re also just really beautiful designs.

I shouldn’t let it annoy me so much, but judgemental people get on my last nerve anyway.

Moral of the blog post: if it doesn’t directly effect you or your body, it’s probably not something you need to worry about, ever.

Rant over.

Thank you for reading,

Sophie xx
