News week in third year was much more pressure than in years prior – I was on the TV bulletin team for all three days, presenting a number of bulletins and on the third day fully taking on the role of TV Editor. I chose the stories, helped make sure we had all the relevant footage and made sure all the bulletins came together. On the last day of news week was actually when the BJTC (British Journalism Training Council) came to accredit the journalism courses at Solent for the next three years, so quite a lot of pressure! Those that I spoke to seemed very impressed with the content we were making and struggled to believe the footage from our first bulletin had been filmed that morning. When the report was sent back, the BJTC were very impressed with our bulletins and said they were incredibly high standard, which I like to think is in part thanks to my role as TV Editor. I really enjoyed working in TV and though I’m not sure I want to work in news, I’d love to work in live video production again.
