I did everything I could to get work experience in my first year – not only because it was compulsory to get two weeks as part of an assignment but because I wanted to build my portfolio and work with a variety of companies. I applied on the off chance and I was very glad to be accepted! I wrote a bunch of blog posts for UCAS in the first semester of first year and a couple in the second semester when I had a moment free. Two years later some of my posts appeared to have been archived but there are a couple still live on the UCAS website. I’m very grateful to UCAS for giving me the opportunity and one of my first tastes of freelancing.
