Hello!
As I feel like I’ve mentioned a million times, my physical TBR is wildly out of control with over 400 books (I’m in the process of making a shelf on Fable for it and it truly is humbling), but amongst all those unread books there are many series!
Because I am who I am, I made a spreadsheet at the beginning of the year and with a couple of additions (and probably even more that I don’t even know are series yet!), there are just over 70 series on my list.
So why not post about them on the internet for accountability?!
For the sake of not making this post a SOLID block of text, I’m going to split them up into series I’ve not started, series I want to restart to finish, series I’ve read at least one book, series I consider myself to be actively reading (the difference between the last two categories is largely vibes!) and series I’ve finished this year. There are lots of series I own that I have finished that aren’t on this list, but this is based just on ones that was at least in part unread.
I won’t put my thoughts and feelings on every single series (particularly the ones I’ve not started), but I’m going to need to defend myself on a few of these…
SERIES I’VE NOT STARTED
(yes, it’s a lot)

- Shattered Sea – Joe Abercrombie
- Culture – Iain M. Banks
- We received book 2 in this series in the wedding library and I read it but I felt like it was missing context, so I found book 1 in a second hand shop! Not sure if I’ll continue with the whole series
- Shadow and Bone – Leigh Bardugo
- Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo
- I feel like I’ve missed out on something huge with these ones, they’re on my radar for sure!
- Ben Garston – James Bennett
- Modern Faerie Tales – Holly Black
- Silver in the Bone – Alexandra Bracken
- I bought this exclusively because I liked ‘Lore’ by this author and it’s Arthurian Legend, that’s it
- Into The Crooked Place – Alexandra Christo
- Hundred Kingdoms – Alexandra Christo
- The Crimson Moth – Kristen Ciccarelli
- I was really brave with this one and won’t let myself buy the second book until I’ve read the first one… it might be a while
- The Marriage Game – Sara Desai
- I only own the second two books in this series so fingers crossed the library can come through on book one
- Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Fairies – Heather Fawcett
- Caraval – Stephanie Garber
- Once Upon a Broken Heart – Stephanie Garber
- I definitely need to figure out whether I like Stephanie Garber or not, I need to figure out if the hype is real
- Belladonna – Adalyn Grace
- The Carls – Hank Green
- These books have no hype (as far as I’m aware) but I’m a big fan of Hank Green’s content so I’m looking forward to these
- The Gatekeepers / The Power of Five – Anthony Horowitz
- The name of this series doesn’t appear to be consistent
- Part of Your World – Abby Jimenez
- Abby Jimenez is so hyped as an author I am now scared of the hype in case I’m disappointed lol
- The Divide – Elizabeth Kay
- Children of Pisces – R. E. Lewis
- The Chronicles of Narnia – C. S. Lewis
- Six Crimson Cranes – Elizabeth Lim
- A Court of Thorns and Roses – Sarah J. Maas
- I know
- Throne of Glass – Sarah J. Maas
- I know
- The Medusa Project – Sophie McKenzie
- The Satsuma Complex – Bob Mortimer
- Abhorsen – Garth Nix
- Chronicles of Ancient Darkness – Michelle Paver
- I’ve been slowly collecting this series in hardback in the last year or so… so I should really start it
- The Inheritance Cycle – Christopher Poalini
- His Dark Materials – Phillip Pullman
- We had a reading from the third book in this series at our wedding, we own two full sets of the trilogy – don’t worry, I am already ashamed of myself
- Bridgerton – Julia Quinn
- Letters of Enchantment – Rebecca Ross
- The Bone Season – Samantha Shannon
- Arc of a Scythe – Neil Shusterman
- Lord of the Rings – J. R. R. Tolkein
- I don’t even own these, but I want to listen to the audiobooks narrated by Andy Serkis!
SERIES I WANT TO RESTART TO FINISH

You know when it’s been too long since you read a book and you want to start again to make sure you get all the details? That.
- The Cruel Prince – Holly Black
- The Mortal Instruments – Cassandra Clare
- The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
- Our Child of the Stars – Steven Cox
- Skulduggery Pleasant – Derek Landy
- Percy Jackson – Rick Riordan
SERIES I’VE STARTED

- Dreamland Billionaires – Lauren Asher
- This was so dumb but I had fun!
- The Asian Saga – James Clavell
- The Maze Runner – James Dashner
- The Brown Sisters – Talia Hibbert
- Alex Rider – Anthony Horowitz
- I only have one book left and I’ve been inadvertently putting it off for nearly two years
- Killing Eve – Luke Jennings
- The Bridge Kingdom – Danielle L Jenson
- Plated Prisoner – Raven Kennedy
- I think I have both the audiobook and the ebook of book 4… yet here we are
- Crescent City – Sarah J. Maas
- This one I’m waiting to continue till I’ve read ACOTAR and Throne of Glass, tbf
- The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency – Alexander McCall Smith
- The Kingkiller Chronicles – Patrick Rothfuss
- I really do want to read the second book but the fact this is an unfinished trilogy is not appealing
- Warlock: To The Magic Born – Christopher Stasheff
- Icons – Margaret Stohl
- The Death Touched of York – Rosie Talbot
SERIES I’M ‘ACTIVELY’ READING (whatever that means)

- Five Nights at Freddy’s – Scott Cawthon
- My husband’s pick, but I must admit the first one was really well written and the concept is clever – it’s still very tense but I find I can’t be jump scared by a book so it’s not too much
- Fallen Gods – Hannah Kaner
- Shatter Me – Tahereh Mafi
- Maximum Ride – James Patterson
- This is a reread from my teenage years and I’m having the best time
FINISHED SERIES

- Her Majesty’s Royal Coven – Juno Dawson
- LOVED this series – started and finished the whole thing this year!
- The Luminaries – Susan Dennard
- Legendborn – Tracy Deonn (awaiting book 4)
- Saga of the Unfated – Danielle L Jenson
- The Dallergut Dream Department Store – Miye Lee
- All vibes no plot, which isn’t for me personally
- Powerless – Lauren Roberts
- I’d say it’s worth not finding out how it ends tbh, or going straight from Reckless to Fearful – Fearless was so icky (for me)
- The Evermore Trilogy – Julie Soto (only book 1 is out)
- Tomes and Tea – Rebecca Thorne
- Cosy fantasy is also not plot heavy enough for me, but this series is very sweet and I will be keeping all of the special editions I bought lol
- The Empyrean – Rebecca Yarros (awaiting book 4)
I’ve been really reluctant about starting series because I know how many I have on the go, but now that I have my Book Queue system I know that I have a plan to finish a bunch of series and that makes the whole concept of having a list this long a little less overwhelming!
Please do let me know if any of your favourites are on here! It would give me a bit of an idea where to start 😂
Thank you so much for reading!
Sophie xx
