Hello!

I set up a Patreon account a few weeks ago and I meant to write about it but I completely forgot so here we are; writing about it now.

Patreon is basically a sponsorship website – a lot of YouTubers use it so whenever they upload a video, their ‘patreons’ or sponsors donate a dollar or however much and it’s a different way of making money on YouTube.

As someone who doesn’t have enough subscribers to earn the money my videos make (which currently resides at about $1.27 a month, really cashing in the dollars) but has been making YouTube videos at least once a week for almost 2 years, being able to have a little bit of income from it would be really sweet.

The obvious flaw is that someone could set up Patreon and then say ‘I’m going to upload a video every day so you have to give me more money’ and that’s not my plan – I don’t have the time, the inclination or the ideas for that and if anyone does decide to become my Patreon, I wouldn’t want to abuse the privileges in such a way and with uni work I really don’t have time.

So this is me asking you, anyone reading this – if you’ve ever watched and enjoyed my YouTube videos and have the expendable income to donate to my university life and YouTube channel, please consider becoming my Patreon.

I do put a lot of work into my YouTube channel (except today, today’s video is the worst example of ‘a lot of effort’) and if you compare the videos I made in Vlogmas 2013 to the videos I upload now I’d like to think that they’ve improved both in style and quality.

And there’s a lot in the works for my YouTube channel at the moment – with the facilities and friends I’ve made at university, I might be recording a song and making a music video, I’d really like to start writing a short film and I’m going to film some more professional location videos too but this would all be made just a little bit easier if I had that financial support.

It would mean the world to me, but I must reiterate that I don’t want anyone to feel compelled to give me money – only if you like my videos and have the spare money.
