Page 270 of 365: Making a roast dinner!

Uncategorized

Hello!

I’d say ‘I’m getting into this whole ‘cooking at uni’ thing’ but so far I’ve cooked two pasta bakes and a roast, so my repertoire isn’t too broad yet but look at what I made! Three of my five a day (look, mum, healthy), chicken, potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings!

I only burnt my finger once, we didn’t set the fire alarm off and we didn’t give ourselves food poisoning. The chicken was actually really good – it literally fell off the bone.

So I’m getting into this whole cooking thing! I actually really enjoyed making this today, even though the kitchen got ridiculously hot. Five people came in while we were cooking to tell us how good it smelled and looked and, to be honest, it looked a lot like my dad’s roast and he’s a well practised roast-maker (technical term), so I’m really pleased with myself.

It did take a good couple of hours, but making each part wasn’t difficult – it was just timing it all so it was all ready at about the same time and I don’t think we did too bad. It tasted nice and I’m so full I definitely won’t need to eat again for a week.

Tomorrow I start university properly – I have three hours of lectures starting at 10 and then I’ve got a couple of hours of practical stuff. I’m not too sure, all I know is I’m somewhere between scared and excited but feeling positive.

University isn’t as scary as I’d made it out to be.

Thank you for reading,

Sophie xx
