Hello!

Today is my birthday! I don’t know if I’ve actually mentioned it properly here before but yes, my birthday is 9/11 (which always confuses people because then they think my birthday is November 9th). September 11th is a tricky birthday because obviously you have to be very mindful and respectful of the 9/11 bombings and the events of Twin Towers but also it’s my birthday and I’d quite like to celebrate? I always feel a little bit guilty for celebrating my birthday but only a little bit.

So I’m 19 today. In the header photo I have to be less than one; my mum always posts pictures like that on Facebook on my birthday. It’s annoying because I was cuter then than I am now, damn it.

I was going to recreate that photo by posing asleep on the sofa with a onesie but, in all honesty, I’m too lazy and all my onesies are carefully balanced on a shelf in my wardrobe and if I move one the whole thing will collapse so that idea quickly fell through.

I don’t have many plans for today to be honest – I woke up kind of late, had a shower, painted my nails, my mum bought picnic food for lunch while I opened my presents (I’m a very lucky girl, would you like a blog post on my presents or is that just boastful?) and I’m just waiting on her to go shopping for food for the little birthday gathering I’m having tomorrow.

And alcohol. We’re buying quite a lot of alcohol. Casual drinking!

After that we’ve got to decorate some of the cakes and cookies my sister and I baked for the same gathering and then I’m going out for dinner with my family and my nan tonight. A very tame birthday I think, I’m not a huge party fan.

Since I left school I don’t have all that many friends, I’m so, so grateful for the people I do have but university is definitely an opportunity to me to make new friends and perhaps get back what I lost at school.

But I do have a few friends and family coming round for this gathering on Saturday – I call it a gathering rather than a party because there’ll definitely be drinking (casual drinking!) but I can’t imagine anyone will be particularly drunk, I’ve made a playlist but I can’t imagine there’s going to be much dancing. It’s a very casual affair and I don’t think ‘party’ fits! So; pretentious gathering.

My sister bought me some wine glasses that I’m going to pretentiously drink cider out of. That’s the plan. Casual drinking!

I’m excited, it’s going to be a really lovely weekend.

Here’s a link to the (much more exciting) party thing I had for my birthday last year – there’s was a bouncy castle and everything! Brilliant Bouncy Birthday Bonanza

Thank you for reading!
