Page 250 of 365: Photographing a Dance Workshop

Guess who’s been taking dance photos again? Yesterday (Sunday) a choreographer went to my (old?) dance school and gave a workshop to 36 students. This choreographer worked at the ‘Can You Dance?’ workshop I went to (blog post here) and has recently worked on the new Cinderella movie alongside TV shows like ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

Quite the resume, right?

Months ago I was asked if I wanted to go to the workshop and as someone who loves dancing, I knew I wasn’t the kind of person to partake in this workshop, however knowing how much I loved taking photos at the competition in May I asked if I could take photos at this workshop instead.

I took over 450 photos and videos at the workshop and these are the best photos from the day. I hope you like them!

Warm up time.

Having a good stretch.

The teacher that organised the whole workshop really likes this photo.

Beautiful dancer (and the only one in focus… definitely intentional)

Sinead the beautiful dancer, as mentioned in the ‘Can You Dance?’ post!

And stretch! (also the back lighting is awful in these photos)

Poppy looks stunning.
I can’t find the words for how much I love dance photography.

The promise of Welland – Sasha is a brilliant dancer, can’t wait to see what she grows into.

Mr Flint took a great shining to the only boy in the class.

I love that I could actually capture this moment at the top of the arabesque – I’m very proud of this photo.

Teacher Mr Matt Flint.

Seeing how different everyone dances in the same moment is fascinating to me.

Going to miss these girls a lot.

A thoroughly engaged class!

The ‘lads’.

They broke him!

The energy!

I’m very proud of these photos and I’m glad that this ‘job’ (as I like to call it) leads to another, as I begin two weeks of taking photos and helping my ‘old’ dance school (I still don’t feel like I’ve left) build their new website.

I’m very proud to be part of this school and hope to treasure that part for years to come – I’m not ready to leave just yet!

Thank you for reading,

Sophie xx
