Page 205 of 365: My Playlist

Uncategorized

Hello!

By the time this goes up, this playlist will probably be about three weeks out of date and new songs will have come out and these ones will be old news but right now, these are my favourite songs and I’m probably still listening to them in Ecuador because I can’t listen to Hey Violet’s new EP and I don’t know about other new music being released.

I feel out of the loop and I haven’t even left yet. Also I feel weird that you’re reading what past-Sophie wrote on July 8th on July 24th. Also I’m cutting this deadline so close I have so much to do.

Anyway! This is my 8 track playlist that I’m loving right now, let’s go!

1. Black Magic – Little Mix
I adore this song – I think it’s pop-y and catchy and it’s full of beautiful harmonies with a little bit of R&B kick-ass that is so Little Mix. It’s also really fun to dance around in your bedroom to. I imagine, anyway, I definitely haven’t done that.

2. Bad Blood – Taylor Swift
I love the video for this so much – badass ladies in leather kicking gender stereotypes in the butt, god I could watch a whole movie but I also love that this song really isn’t that complex. It’s pretty simple and quite repetitive but it works because I love Taylor Swift’s vocals, though I do prefer the album version to the Kendrick Lemar one if I’m perfectly honest.

3. See You Again – Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth
This song has been out for ages now and I wasn’t interested at first because I’m not into the Fast and Furious franchise – I have literally zero interest in the movies but the song’s been played everywhere and I heard it a lot but then I really watched the video and realised how heartbreakingly sentimental it is to Paul Walker. I love Charlie Puth’s voice and I think this song is really emotional in a good way.

4. Marvin Gaye – Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor
I heard this song in some sort of car advert and thought it was really catchy. I can’t remember the car advert but I know that I really like this song – it’s kind of ballady and I like Puth’s piano but I love the harmonies that Trainor brings in too. It’s just a really fun song and I like it a lot.

5. Everything Has Changed – Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran
Now I know this song is definitely not new, but I saw the video for the first time a few weeks ago and it caught my heart and I adore the harmonies. These are two artists that I really, really love individually but together they’re incredible. Ed Sheeran is one of my favourite artists of all time and I think his voice compliments Taylor Swift’s really well.

6. I’m There – Hey Violet
I’ve expressed my adoration for Hey Violet on many occassions (particularly when Miranda Miller followed me on twitter!) but I really like how mature this song sounds, the lyrics are really poignant and I love the combination of instruments to make what I can only describe as a power ballad. It’s a really beautiful song.

7. Shut Up And Dance – Walk The Moon
This song sounds like a pop-punk song that is an anthem to my generation, like ‘Mr Brightside’, but it’s new and when I heard it I assumed it was one I’d heard at parties before. It’s so catchy and the video is really fun and I love the genre. When I get back I think I’m going to be listening to a lot of Walk The Moon on Spotify because they sound like my favourite genre of music.

8. Honey, I’m Good – Andy Grammer
I only know about this song because it was advertised on YouTube when I was listening to the rest of this playlist. It’s got, like, 22 million views (right now, anyway) and I can see why – the music video is just couples holding up signs of how long they’ve been together and there’s some that have been together months and some who’ve been together for 50+ years and it’s so sweet. The song is very pop-ish but also has a bit of a country vibe, I think, either way it’s really catchy and really fun.

So that’s what I’m listening to right now. Leave a comment if there’s any new songs that have come out recently that I probably haven’t heard and I’ll be sure to give them a listen when I get back!

Thank you for reading,

Sophie xx
