Page 41 of 365: Bands can save lives

Uncategorized

Hello,

This is the first time in all of the 40 days I’ve been blogging that I haven’t wanted to write a blog post. I’ve had a god-awful day and then my dance classes were really shit too but there was one redeeming feature of today.

When I came home from school, my dad chopped up a plate of the Rocky Road I’d made last week and I sat opposite my sister at our kitchen table.

I started scrolling through the pictures on my phones Camera Roll, finding a drawing that referenced a keek that 5 Seconds of Summer posted where bassist Calum Hood (drunk) carried a microwave round the kitchen whilst his band mates laughed at him. (I have to link it because it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen).

And this brings me back to the point of the title – my sister and I sat watching 5SOS keeks for what felt like ages and it made me feel a bit better for a little while.

Celebrities are somewhat untouchable – 5 Seconds of Summer will probably never know who I am but they’re a constant; their music doesn’t change, they don’t change all that much (in that their celebrity personas are pretty constant) and it gives me something to distract from my own life for a bit.

Specifying it to me and 5 Seconds of Summer – watching those four idiots live their dream and making so many people happy and meeting their idols and learning to surf gives me a few moments to forget my life and forget how awful my day is.

I’ve got to cling to these other peoples lives (in this case, bands) because mine is kinda shit right now.

Please tell me about your stories about bands and their influence in the comments!

Thanks for reading,

Sophie xx
